Medical technology is a vital component of modern healthcare, playing a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. Medical technologists are the professionals who analyze and interpret the results of laboratory tests, providing crucial information to healthcare providers to aid in the delivery of quality patient care. Despite the critical importance of medical technology, many aspiring medical technologists face challenges in accessing the education and training they need to pursue their careers.

This new scholarship program from Bloodwork Matters Inc. aims to support and promote the importance of medical technologists by providing financial assistance to those who are passionate about pursuing a career in the field. The scholarship is open to individuals of any age who are interested in studying medical technology and will provide a significant portion of the costs associated with tuition, textbooks, and other expenses.

The scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Josephine Merka, a beloved medical technologist who spent 45 years working in the field and excelling in everything she did. Josephine was a true Generalist (MT ASCP) who took pride in her work and inspired others with her passion and dedication. The scholarship program is designed to keep Josephine’s legacy alive by supporting the next generation of medical technologists who will carry on her work and continue to make a positive impact on the lives of patients.
